NO MORE DRUGS PLEASE...

Sorry I've been quiet. I've been sick since last week actually.

It started with a bit of a sore throat. As a preventive measure so that it didn't progress to anything worse (plus it was getting really difficult to eat/drink), I went to the doctor's and got myself some meds.

This was at 10:30 p.m, on a Saturday night. Most clinics have closed by this time, so I had to go to a new clinic (a 24-hour one). As per the usual drill, I filled in the forms - personal info, medical insurance, drug allergies etc etc. I knew I was allergic to aspirin, so I made sure they knew that.

Saw the Doc. Nice elderly Indian guy. Confirmed I got some nasty inflammations on my throat. Got my meds. Went home.

Got home. Took the pills.

Got comfy with Woodchuck in front of the TV and popped in "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle" into the dvd player. Quite funny for a low budget movie. I totally recommend it :). You don't have to be intelligent to watch it. The jokes are simple and moronic. My kind of movie hehe.

With about 15 mins left on the movie, my eyes started to feel itchy. Thought it was just dust at first, so started to rub them (I know, I know - never rub your eyes!). Got worse.

After a minute or so, realized that I was having an allergic reaction to the meds! Gosh, did the Doc accidentally give me aspirin??!!

Rushed to the clinic again. Could barely open my eyes cause they were swollen, red, puffy and watery. One look, and you'd think I'd been bawling my eyes out. And oh, they were EXTREMELY itchy.

After about 10 agonizing mins of waiting for the Doc (apparently he went to get a bit of a shut-eye since there were no patients, and he was NOT an easy man to rouse up), we were called into the treatment room.

Turns out he did NOT accidentally give me aspirin, but instead, I was also allergic to one of the other meds he gave me.

Great. Now I had to add one more to the list.

Got an antidote injection which hurt like h*ll. No kidding, I actually bruised where he injected me. Got new meds which, HOPEFULLY, I'm not allergic to as well.

Went home, nursed my painful arm and my STILL swollen eyes.

Finished the remaining 15 mins of the movie. Went to bed.

Woke up on Sunday. Eyes still swollen, though no longer itchy. Spent almost the whole Sunday with my eyes half shut. Swelling didn't completely go away until that night. Took long enough for my allergic reactions to vanish.

Good news for the eyes, but the sore throat has now progressed to (and despite the tons of meds I took)- I was now having a fever & flu as well.

Great. SUPER.

Ended up skipping two days of work because of the fever, and boy, I didn't go down alone. Took Woodchuck with me too.

So there we were, the two of us, sprawled on two separate beds the whole day and night, purely out of sheer exhaustion from battling our illnesses.

How I wish I could say it was for more interesting reasons *wink*.

Oh well.
