Guys, I need help!!

I recently discovered a place where pirated music CDs are sold. It was quite innocent, actually. Just finished lunch with my colleague, had a bit of a walk to ease our heavy stomachs, turned around the corner, and voila!

There it was. Stacks and stacks of illegal & pirated CDs. Almost ANY song you can wish for. You want it, they don't have it, you come back in two days. They'll have it ready for you. New albums in the market? No worries, you can find them here.

Even better, they have great compilations of songs, compilations which do not even exist in the REAL, LEGAL world. If you buy the normal compilation CD at normal stores, chances are, you'll end up hating the greater half of the disc, forced to buy songs you hate for the sake of 4-5 songs that you really like..

Hmmm.. perhaps I should buy one, just for kicks.

"Bet the quality is poor. Can't beat the original lah!" I muttered to myself.

But hey, it's just 7 bucks. What have I got to lose, right?

Once back at the office, I slid the CD into my player, sat back in my not-so-comfy chair, and listened to it.

25 songs in total - 19 of them my favourites, another 5 of which I could tolerate, and one other track which I completely couldn't stand. *Hey, you can't have it all, right?*

But you know what?

All 25 songs - including the one which could gimme stomach cramps - sounded great! As in, very, very clear and smooth! No scratches, no background noise, no reduced volume, etc etc etc. The CD that I bought had none of the flaws that I expected from a cheap, illegally-pirated compact disc.

JACKPOT!

So of course, I had to go back. Went there again 2, 3 days after the first time. Hah! New stock! New titles! Bought 2 CDs this time.

Loved them too.

So the week that followed saw me buying another 2 or 3. Or more. Can't remember.

Yep, loved them too. Oookayyy...

And so it went, day after day, lunch hour after lunch hour, 2 to 3 CDs per visit.... until finally, it crossed my mind to count the number of CDs I have bought from that place.

1,... 2,...... 3,..................

WHAT??! This can't be right. TEN CDs in 3 WEEKS??!!!

Tepik aku. Tekejuk.

How did that happen? In 3 weeks?? Before that place, I barely bought 1 CD every 2 to 3 months!

Told this to Syiro, who theorized a very good explanation.

Hang terkena laa aku rasa. Cina tu letak ubat senyonyong dak?

Hmmm.. iye lah tu Syiro. What, Chinese bootleg CD peddler by day, black magic wizard by night?

Hehe, precious Syiro.

Anyway, ubat senyonyong or not, black magic ke, white magic ke, I knew for a fact that -

I'M ADDICTED!

Can anyone hear me? This is a cry for help!

Adoiiii.... sakitnya perut aku... (My stomach hurts! OUCH!)

Been like this for the past 3 days.

I think the mee kari (curry noodle) that I had on Wednesday is the culprit lah.

I go to that particular restaurant quite often, but normally, my choice dish would be their soto (rice vermicelli & rice cubes in chicken soup, plus a potato-meatball). I tell you, meleleh air liur wa cakap lu (the best soto I've ever had!!).

But during Wednesday's lunch, I thought, what the heck? Let's try something else... and I happened to look at mee kari.

Hmm.. been a while since I had that.

So, mee kari it was.
"Tapau, ye kak! (To go, please!)"
Paid my RM3.00, picked up my plastic bags of mee kari and left.

Back at the office, I still had half an hour to go till lunch ended. But before I could touch my steaming hot food, I got engrossed in a lengthy chit chat with my colleagues. It was a very good discussion, and soon I langsung (completely!) ter-forgot about my mee kari.

Discussion ended. Pangs of hunger struck me. Suddenly remembered my mee kari again.

Of course, it was already a bit cold. But hey, I don't mind. Especially when I'm hungry - anything goes.

Poured the dry contents into my huge, mug-like Snoopy soup bowl (yes, my colleagues thought I had a certain tamak-ness (greed) for morning teas or coffees. Hello? It's a bowl lah you, not a coffee mug..)

Then I poured over the curry.

*Sniff, sniff. Huh, what's that funny smell?*

No-lah. Maybe I just imagined it. After all, I've eaten at that place many, many times before. Perhaps it was just the way they cooked the curry; perhaps it was a different type of curry?

Took a few spoonfuls. Tasted funny all the way through, but did I stop? You guessed it. NO. Being as hungry as I was, I downed the whole thing.

That afternoon, that's when it all started. Perut memulas-mulas (It really felt like someone's tugging at my innards and twisting them all around!).

Then came the countless trips to the bathroom.

After a few hours of, well, you know, it subsided.

Phew.

But opps! Spoke too soon! Yesterday morning, the feeling came back. To top it all off, I had a departmental meeting the whole morning. And to make it worse, I think the boss (will be dubbed as The Don from now on) doesn't really like me.

We gave our progress reports, yada yada yada... boring stuff. And after this one manager finished her section's report, The Don stopped us and, get this, asked ME to re-explain briefly what was being discussed! What the- ?

On top of that, I was in & out of the meeting (visit to the ladies la.. what else?).. Haiyo.. manyak tak tahan ooo (I just couldn't hold it in any longer!) So obviously la I wasn't paying much attention, right?

Luckily I managed to answer whatever it was & covered up my ass.

During one of those visits to the loo, I had to stay there, sitting on the bowl for a full 30 mins. 30 freaking minutes, ok? Kebas buntut aku (couldn't feel my arse....).

And my series of unfortunate event didn't end there. Noooo... early this morning (around 3, 4 am?) I was rudely waken up by my unsettling stomach. Adoi adoi adoi...

So this morning, Woodster decided to send me straight to the office. He feared that if I take the LRT, I might terbarai on the train. Then how?

Luckily I listened. Because sure enough, en route to the office, I felt the sudden need to go again. Had no choice, held it in as long as I could until we exited at the toll, and headed straight to the toll's toilet. God bless Plus (haha!)

And that was the end of my ordeal.

The end.

Let's Play Tag!

OoOOohh... so I've been TAGGED. How nice of Lion3ss to deem me as the fairest of them all, thus making me the most worthy of the sacred schhhtickk. *Hehehe.. don't be jealous!*

So, here goes:

1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?

What?? What music files? What are you talking about? So you can actually download songs into your PC? Is it free? What's the website? What kind of hardware do you need? Most importantly, how do you do that?

Hmm.. so, obviously I have none.

Ookayyy... so I'm the OTHER kind of geek. NOT the techno-wise type. Alright?

*Woodster honey, we really need to talk about internet connections at home.*

2. The CD you last bought?

OK, this one's easy. It's "Allow Us To Be Frank" by Westlife. Cool easy listening songs. A definite must if you need a little pick-me-up or to de-stress yourself.

3. What was the last song you sang to before reading this message?

Hmm... I know it's gonna sound very lame, but I was listening to a Japanese CD. It's a collection of soundtracks from popular animes.

Can't recall the singer, but the song is called "Dame!" from the series Rurouni Kenshin (or Samurai X as they call it here on AXN).

Yeah, I'm THAT dorky. But I tell you, Japanese songs best tau. And the melodies, fuuhh.. you can definitely layan... Hehehehe.

4. Write down five songs that you often sing to or that mean a lot to you.

Hmmm.. a toughie. But if I can strictly only choose 5, they would be:

a. Belaian Jiwa - Innuendo
Have loved this song since I was in Form 5. Until now. It's a constant cause of headache to Woodster. Will sing it whenever and wherever I hear it. Was dedicated to me by my best friend in high school.
Loved it so much, I played it and recorded it into the school's electric piano's memory slot. Has probably been deleted now since, well, it WAS school property.

b. The Actor - MLTR
The first ever song that Woodster sang to me. This was way before we left for the States. We were still in Malaysia, still in the foundation program, preparing for our SATs.
One day while studying together in the classroom, he turned to me and sang me the chorus. Just the chorus; he didn't know the rest. But damn, it was very romantic :). Too bad the pakcik guard had to come by and check up on us. Kacau daun betul (busybody!).

c. Back At One - Brian McKnight
How can a romantic like me NOT love this song? And the video clip, OHH! Cairnya aku... (melts me away, man!)... The first time I saw it, I cried. Yep. A romantic fool. That's me :).

d. Stay The Same - Joey McIntyre
Very simple yet meaningful lyrics. I promise I will post them here one of these days. If you feel down and worthless, you need to listen to this. It'll make you fall in love with yourself over and over again. Hehe.
Not a good choice for those with a very vain heart. But still, you gotta love it.

e. Walking Away - Craig David
Oooohhhh... Craig David sounds sooooo HANDSOME in this song! I mean, he IS handsome in real life, but somehow, this song makes him sound even MORE yummy. Weird, innit? How can a SONG make someone SOUND handsome huh?

OK, that's 5 if I really, really have to choose only 5. But, if I get to cheat, here are some more:

f. All My Love - KCi & Jojo
What can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic. Heh. Oh, but the piano is really good too. Damn fluid. And smoooooth. One of my favourite plays (but I can't play it as well laaa kay, so don't ask hehe..)

g. End of The Road - Boyz II Men
A favourite choice during break-ups. Or fights. Whichever one. Allows you to maximize your jiwang-ness (mushy-ness). The harmony's well, very harmonic. It's good. And Boyz II Men is one of my favourite artists.

h. Let's Get It Started - Black Eyed Peas
Not quite sure why I like it, but I find this song very appealing. My head bops when I listen to it. Bops really hard, mind you! Irregardless whether I'm in the office or not. My colleagues can only stare. My boss shakes her head in disapproval. It's so catchy, it's too bad for me.

i. Kaulah Segalanya - Ruth Sahanaya
One of the only songs, whose high notes I can actually reach! My vocals are limited to the middle range - it can't reach the very low or the very high keys. But this song, it stretches just high and low enough for me to sing it well from start to finish. Hence, the reason I sing it often! Is it any wonder? Hehehehe..

5. Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?

Hmmm... not sure to whom I should pass it. You're all very dear to me. On the other hand, I don't want to make you waste your time any more than you want to.

So, any takers? Volunteers?

Oklah, I should leave. Now. Just realized that I'm alone in the office. I'm scared shit.

Bye. Night night.

Hey Guys! Guess What??

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.....

I just discovered that my better half now has a blog.

Officially up since yesterday.

Now, what was it that you said, dear?

"Nooooo... I don't blog..."

"Isy... not for me la..."

"Tak main la blog2 ni......"

"It's OK, I'll just read yours (everyday)...."

HIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHI...

Haven't been able to stop teasing him ever since I found out.

Honey, sorry I spilled the beans to everyone. Oh, did you want to keep it a secret?

Sorry la dear, it's wayyy too delicious. :)

OK, out of fear of "punishments" from Woodster tonight, I will NOT be any naughtier and disclose the blog's url.

*spanky spanky spank!*

Hmm...... on second thoughts, maybe I should, hehehe.

But no...... it really is his call.

But I do pray he'll bare it all! I want to suck him in entirely.. suck him into the evil world of blogging.. hehehehe..

What a joy this is to me.

Okay people, I think I've hit the limit for the potential amount of PUNISHMENT that my cushy posterior can take tonight!

*Grin grin grin. Wink wink wink. Nod nod nod*

Have a nice weekend, y'all!

Would you like that fried or steamed, Sir?

'Cannibal' killer admits to frying friend's brain....

"LONDON : A convicted killer, 35-year-old Peter Bryan, with serious psychiatric problems and a confessed penchant for cannibalism was given two life sentences yesterday for killing two people, including an OLD FRIEND whose brain he cooked up in a frying pan and ate.

....etc...etc....etc......

In February last year, while living in a community mental health facility in east London, he went to visit Brian Cherry, 43, at home in nearby Walthamstow.

Neighbours heard screams from the home and alerted police, who discovered Bryan had killed his friend and was cooking the dismembered body and brains.

Prosecuter Aftab Jafferjee said Bryan had inflicted more than 24 blows to Cherry's head, chopped him up with the aid of kitchen knives and had already eaten some of the man's brain cooked in BUTTER by the time police arrived.........(cont.)"

Haiyoh.

What the f-F**K? Best sangat ke makan otak orang? (Can it be that good?) I can't imagine, since I've never tasted it before. But really, just the thought of cutting up my old pals and cooking them ala masak merah, is too sicko, even for me.

Hey, we all know cannibalism is not a new concept. It's been around since the ancient cultures, and is still being practised by some of the tribes living in the world's deepest forests.

Based on an article I just read, cannibalism was first discovered during Christopher Columbus's expedition to the West Indies. It is said that he and his crew came across a tribe called the Carib West Indies. And this tribe, they ritualistically eat humat meat. Ritualistically. Which probably means OFTEN.

If I were to put this into our modern-day context, that could mean old-Kedah-man-meat rendang with ketupat during Hari Raya, and roasted twentyish-Aussie-girls during Christmas eves. Or, or barbecued Asian-baby-back-ribs when you feel like celebrating that promotion with your work buddies.

Gives a whole new meaning to the word delicacies.

*YUCKS. Pening lalat saya (Why is the room suddenly spinning??)*

Anyway, back to Columbus. His gang & him mispronounced the word 'Caribs' as 'Canibs', leading to the modern day word 'Cannibals'.

I don't know la, but seeing as to how cannibalism has reached across many, many centuries and cultures, I must assume that human meat must be damn good.

No?

But no matter how good it may be, I'll have to pass. I have enough troubles dealing with people around me, I don't think I want them INSIDE of me.

I'll stick to seafood.

Well, happy eating & dining to all. Sorry if I spoiled your appetites tonight.

Mangia.

To My Dearest Woodster :

Laughter and tears
You and I share
You've always made clear
How much you care

As a lover you make
One of the best
As one of my friends
You beat all the rest

Deep in my heart
Is a special place
That is where my love
For you is encased

Happy Birthday, Love!

Today's Special : Keropok Lekor & Sotong Goreng Tepung

I'm BACK!

Wow, Cherating was GREAT! I mean, I've been there several times before when I used to be a kid. But I guess going for the first time with your lover gives Cherating a whole new outlook. A more ROMANTIC outlook, I must say.

The room was great - everything was adorned in white (the color of innocence, hah!), with double doors opening to the balcony which overlooked the great sea. Since the room was located on the top-most floor, we had a great view of the ever continuous waves, always rippling and lapping over one another.

And at night when we were both sunggled up in bed, we could hear those waves breaking on the beach.

"~~Swoosh~~... ~swishh~... ~~swooosshhh~~......"

- wonderfully soothing & peaceful.

Oh, and I loved the breeze too! I definitely had 'wind in my hair', in its truest sense!

We spent our days reading and chilling out at the table-for-two set on the veranda, reading books and sipping our tea. There were times when we would just chat about unimportant matters. To me, that was true bliss :).

Best of all, our room was protected from prying eyes by the shades of the trees that grew next to the building. We had TOTAL privacy. *hehe.. wicked grin*

You must think I'm foolish to be fawning over CHERATING! I know, I know, it's no Italy, but very often, when Woodster & I went on vacation, it meant days and nights filled with the 2-S activities - Sightseeing & Shopping! Tourist spots A, B, C... and all the way to Z! Plus all the countless shopping bazaars, malls & tourist arcades - no wonder we never achieved the 'relaxing' effect you're supposed to get after a long break! *Duh! Slaps my forehead*

But for once, we went on a nothing-to-do holiday. It was good.

I tell you again, it was good, no, GREAT - to just do nothing.

But of course, NOTHING meant - shopping for keropok lekor, riding a tandem bike*, walking on the beach, swimming in the pool, scouting for the perfect seafood place, looking for a pair of embroidered shoes (for moi of course!) and last but not least, hitting the tourist beach & getting souvenirs!

You should try doing NOTHING too sometimes :). But please, don't take a leaf from my book, OK?

Nice to be back.

Yeah, right. Ciao!

*Tandem bike : A bike for two, you must've seen it before. Have you tried riding it? You should. It hurts your butt as hell, and it's damn difficult to balance. Both of us only lasted for 20 mins on the steel rack.

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!!! Hahahahaha

YAY!!! I'm done with the meeting and the reports!

Me and Woodster are off to Cherating tomorrow.

Gonna stay at this very nice hotel right by a fishing village. Heard it's nice, but guess we'll have to see for ourselves, no?

Hmm.. what should we do there huh? Swimming? Tennis? Spa? OR... indoor 'GAMES'?? Perhaps lots and LOTS of 'em? *Oh Leez, you so sly!* Hehehehe..

It is our 5th anniversary, after all... :)

Gotta get me some of those keropok lekors (erm.. fried fish sausage?? Is this correct?)... And ikan bakar (grilled fish!), and tons(!) of fresh sotong & udang (squids and prawns).. err, probably barbecued is best.... Errmmmm... yum yum YUM.....

When I come back, I gotta start going to the gym, man.

No, seriously.

Listen, this WILL be my March resolution ok?

Yeah, right.

Ow, come on, people. Gimme some moral support here. I can do it. I can go to the gym at least three times a week. I can lose those *sth sth number* pounds and *another sth sth number* inches. I can be body beautiful.

I KNOW I can be booty-licious. *J-Lo, look out! HAHAHAHA*

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

Well, one thing for sure, I AM gonna be in Cherating for the rest of the week. And I AM gonna pig out on those seafood. And if God-willing, I AM gonna come back and tell you guys on how bad a girl I've been.

Have a nice weekend, y'all. Oh I forgot, your weekend doesn't start till Friday!! HAHAHAHA..

*Hehe, try la to sue me, I can claim temporary insanity due to stress at work!*

Oh well, see you all next week. Be good when I'm gone.

And Woodster, can't wait to spend a marvelous weekend with you! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, HONEY!

Love you.

I wanna go home tonight.....

....But I probably can't.

It's been the busiest time at work for me as yet.

Got a BIG meeting coming up tomorrow.

I tell you, I had to:

1) Come to the office on Sunday to do some reports.

2) Stay at the office until 10 last night (would've been longer, have we not forgotten to request the office lights).

And, I will probably have to:

3) Sleep over at the office tonight.

*HELP!!!!*

My colleagues and I have even brought a change of clothes in anticipation of this all-nighter. I thought of bringing my pink-angels jammies, but... on second thoughts, I don't think I have the guts to wear them in front of everyone. So needless to say, I chickened out. Hehe..

Oh, how I wish we're having a slumber party instead! With tubs of ice cream, tons of chick flicks, and lots & lots of private sharing moments! *Sighhhh*

And we can also play my Disney Limited Edition Monopoly (hehehehehe)

Oklah, we can play Twister if you like. All the physical intertwining & exertion should do me some good. After those long, oh, soooo loooonnnngggg hours of facing the PC, I definitely need a good stretch.

Well, too bad we can't have all those. Not tonight definitely. So, when you put your head on your very comfy down pillow, think of poor us, ok?

Sweet dreams...

Right, back to work.
