My Idol

This is probably the most unimportant, insignificant, zero-underlying-message entry ever. But, what the heck.

I don’t know why, but lately I seem to be running into Jaclyn Victor everywhere. Who the heck is Jaclyn Victor, you ask?

Well, you know, she’s the lass who won the Malaysian Idol competition last year, making her the first ever Malaysian Idol.

I personally think she was great, heck, I think there really was NO competition. But that’s a whole ‘nother matter. Let’s get back to me here.

What I’m trying to say here is, WHY do I keep running into her lately?

The first time, I was having my salad for dinner at the Kinokuniya bookstore café, when she came in with her Mat-Saleh boyfriend and her posse. It was almost closing time, so there were only us there at that time, and we were seated facing each other (well, kinda).

*Oh yes, there was another lady a few tables away, but who cares?*

And that was Tuesday.

Then on Friday, I was in One Utama trying to score tickets at the new GSC. After buying the tix for “Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” (funny movie, IF you can understand & appreciate SPASTIC & STUPID, BRITISH jokes in BRITISH ENGLISH), we headed for dinner.

We reached the escalator at the same time as this other couple. Being courteous, we let them go first. And when the girl turned around, guess who? Yep, it’s HER. There she was, right in front of me, with her white beau.

Is this a sign? What could it mean?

Perhaps I should’ve tried out for Malaysian Idol this year. Maybe I’d win!

*Or perhaps, I’m making a big deal out of nothing because as usual, I’d get over-excited over small things, and being one who rarely spots (let alone hangs out with) celebs, I thought it was a huge deal!*

OoooOOoohh.. AaaAAaaahhHHh… *Starstruck*

Oh well.

I am WHAT??!

Went to a workshop earlier this week. For the ice breaking session, we were asked to draw a self-portrait and write down 3 things that we think (or perasan) are interesting about ourselves.

I can’t show you my lovely (?!) portrait, since the workshop consultants took it away, but I sure can share with you what my 3 interesting things were.

Here they are:

1. I can speak and write in Japanese,
2. I can play the organ, the piano and the trombone, AND
3. When I was younger, I wanted to be a private detective a.k.a mato-mato.

And guess what? My 3 statements won me the MOST INTERESTING person award! Hahahaha… how whacked is that? Me? Interesting??

Biar benor?

Oookay Leez, enough gloating and back to work.

But before that,

Interesting person says bye! HAHAHAHA *rolls eyes*

Take care, y'all. Hope you'll have a good week.

The Modern Wonder a.k.a Bane of My Existence

My PC is acting up again. You’d think that when I got a brand new PC from the Co., all my PC woes would be over, right? Wrong.

Got my new PC on Tuesday. The IT guy fiddled here, fiddled there, installed this and that. Finally, he checked to see that all my applications were up there and running. Yep, all set. The next day, which was Wednesday, my PC was definitely A-OK.

Went on leave the next day. Just came back today. Opened up the PC. Good, PC is now on and still A-OK. Proceeded to open my intranet mails.

Wait a minute. Where’s my mailbox? Dang it! My office mail application is gone. As in not there anymore. What happened to my mails?

Called the IT guy. They’ll be right over.

Sure, no prob. I’ll just do my other tasks while you guys figure this out.

Proceeded to download my working files from the server.

Hey, what the *&@$?? I couldn’t open them! Oh, wait a minute. I needed to select a program to open the file. Hmm, it never asked that before. It used to just automatically open itself. Oh well, perhaps it’s the new PC.

Selected the program, and clicked OPEN.

SH*T! It opened all right, but not in any form that makes sense. AT ALL. Everything turned out as rubbish characters. A lot of good it did me. Now, I couldn’t check my mails, NOR do my work.

Placed yet another call to the IT dept.

And not long after that, I found out that my business travel claims didn’t get through. Something was wrong with the system. Yet another computer-related problem.

One more call. 3 calls, 3 completely different problems in one day. I'd probably be famous over at the IT dept today, as the biggest PC dumbwit ever.

And it's all courtesy of the wonderful world of technology. I know, I know, technology is wonderful; computers are a blessing to our daily lives. Without computers, we will not able to achieve most (if not all) of the major accomplishments of the modern age. I will not argue on that point, so just save your pro-computer/technology arguments to yourself.

All I’m saying is, when computers don’t work as they’re supposed to, they will DEFINITELY become a major source of headache, especially for less-than-savvy IT users like me.

Y’know?

Hmm ok, what to do next?
