T.G.I.F.
Damn.
Damn.
Damn.
I went to my template to fiddle with it, but what did I find?
My template's gone. Consequently, my blog can't publish properly.
Wrote to support and found out that I got a bug in the template. Very unfortunate, they said.
Solution? Gotto re-choose my template, re-install haloscan, and re-do some of my settings.
Bright side? Stumbled upon my old comments, copied, pasted and saved them into a file. Next time when I'm up to it, I'll re-insert them back in.
But for now, I'm going to meet my dearest Woodstock who's coming all the way here to meet me.
Perhaps we can go eat somewhere expensive tonight to cheer me up.
Perhaps he'll belanja (treat) me.
Have a nice weekend all.
On second thought, I think I'll belanja him :).

Reality bites...
Hey hey.. did you guys watch American Idol last night? What about last week's? Do you guys watch TV at all??
If you do, then you'll know that the much coveted American Idol is now back for its 4th season - along with its shining (and NOT-so-shining) hopefuls, wackos and of course, the judges.
Simon Cowell is more obnoxious than ever, but that's nothing new. What surprised me though was how cold and insensitive Paula has become nowadays - she's just as bad as Simon sometimes! And Randy, I don't think he cares anymore. Just say a couple of YES's and NO's, and he'll get his paycheck. Only the guest judge seemed sort of excited.
And the contestants.. OH MY GOD.. I just don't get it guys. After 3 seasons on TV, surely you'd have picked up some CLUE(?). Some of you just CAN'T sing a tune (despite your parents' convictions that you'll be the next Carey or McKnight..), OK? It's Horrendous (with a capital H).
No wonder the judges are so grumpy. Who could stand 4 seasons of physical and mental torture?? I don't think I can stand it. I would've probably thrown my Coca-Cola can at you, aimed straight to your face.
No wonder la I'm still stuck right here in this office. I've NO people skill whatsoever. *cebik mulut (pouty mouth) with a sad face...*
Reality series sprout like mushrooms after the rain. Some, I admit are quite good. But some just totally blew my mind away! And not in a good way, that is.
You know that show, 'My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance'? I never watched it because I'm totally against all these love-cum-dating-cum-wedding reality series. Yes, I'm talking 'bout Joe Millionaire, The Bachelor, For Love or Money, etc etc (can't keep track anymore.. there're too many already..)
Somebody help me here.. Isn't love supposed to be a sacred thing? Isn't it the special bond between two people who found warmth, and tenderness, and a better tomorrow, in each other's arms? Isn't it the foundation for trust and respect for one another? Surely love means more than a million USD dollars??
Pardon me for being idealistic but I dunno.. I guess I'm a true believer in love. I just don't think you can fall in love truly, madly, deeply with someone just over the period of 6 weeks or so, during a gameshow, and on national TV nonetheless..
And even worse, you're competing with these other 30 (then 15, then 10, then 8, and so on till there're only 2 of you) gorgeous women, who would all 'give it all' to this one damn, lucky guy. Oh, he's lucky alright. Imagine having all these women (or men if you're a gal) all over you like you're the last eligible man on Earth.
If you're the guy, can you HONESTLY say, that you're gonna pick JUST ONE??? And spend the rest of your life with her?
Huh. Yeah, right.
I'm a bit pissed off about this today 'cause I happened to watch last night's season finale of My B, F, Obnoxious Fiance. I can't believe what these people did! They (the producers) embarrassed the bride and the family in front of all their relatives and friends. Not to mention, they literally broke the family into shreds, right in front of millions of viewers worldwide. Of course, in the end the producers tried to patch things up (via the "fiance") between them family members by saying nice things like how the family really bonded together, how they supported each other, yada yada yada.... crap like that.
The family may re-bond and grow after this, but can they still trust each other whole-heartedly?
I was in utter disbelieve. If it was me, I would have punched the producers right there and then. Jail time or not, I won't have them embarrassing my family like that. No way.
And you can keep your million bucks. It's a lot of money (*hmmm...*), but PRIDE isn't worth any money in the world.
Reality shows suck. You producers should be ashamed of yourselves for cooking up sth as morally-degrading as this.
And to dear readers, if you guys didn't watch the show, and have no idea what I'm talking about, just know that I love you k? Muahhss!!! Thanks for listening to the ramblings of my heart.
Have a nice weekend. See you at MokcikNab's nasi dagang party tomorrow night if you're going.
p/s: When I said reality shows suck, I didn't really mean all of them. Hey, Amazing Race & Manhunt is good, no?? *Manhunt... yummm....*

classics
Was flipping thru the radio channels when I came to this one local station. Apparently, this channel plays old melayu songs - you know, the 'Lagu Melayu Klasik' from old movies and such.
One song in particular caught my attention. It goes sth like this...
"Ahmad tidak suka mandi.... (La la la la...)
Badan dia penuh daki.... (La la la...)
Bila dia masuk sungai... (La la la la...)
Habis semua ikan lariiiiii..... (La la LALA..!!)"
Keh keh keh.. it's the best thing that's happened to me all day. I'm still grinning now, 5 hours after I heard it this morning.
Damn, that song is definitely stuck in my head. What a terrible earworm....
*HELP!!*

"Phenomenal Woman"
Beautiful poem I came across yesterday, guys.. I dedicate it to all you phenomenal women out there.
A bit long, but it's worth a read. Have a nice day people :).
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
Tha'ts me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Of Mucus & Antibiotics
Hi Peeps.
Selamat Hari Raya Haji.
Sorry I haven't been posting lately. The fever took me by surprise, actually.
It just like the usual deal: ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) viral infections, but this time the fever got me down really, really bad. I was in bed for 4 FULL DAYS! I was beyond bored. Fever temperatures way exceeded 100 degrees. Give me a few more days and I'll be one plump, juicy & fully-roasted turkey.
Sure, I've been sick every now and then, but normally, I just needed one full day of total relaxation to recover (NO cooking, NO kemas-ing, NO nothing hehe). At most it'd be two days. Then, I'll be back on my feet the very next day, and back to the office to annoy my dear colleagues *sly grin*.
Been popping pills every 4 hours and man, do I hate them. I really, really do hate them. Why can't they make them much tastier huh? I mean, not like I expected them Cadbury Crunchies or Ferreros (hmmMmMMm.... my faves), but do they really have to taste so foul? And talk about the size. They really can't make them much bigger, can they?? I got this one antibiotics that was so nasty & huge, it was as big as a teenage roach (take an adult-sized one, cut into 2).
YUCKS.
DOUBLE, SUPER DUPER MEGA GROSSNESS.
Nasty things, those pills.
Alhamdulillah I'm much better now. The fever is pretty much gone now, though I'm still really bugged by the cough & the runny nose. The hingus I don't mind as much, it's the other one I can't stand. It's so damn dry, it makes coughing a very painful and LOUD experience (apparently, the mucus just got stuck in the two lubang hidungs and never made it to the throat and chest). I tell you, I'm really tired of making my mom's cats jump in terror everytime I had to batuk. Sorry guys.
And I don't get to sleep like a princess, either.
Oohh.. what a wonderful Hari Raya Haji. Enjoy it, people.
And take care.

I'm telling.....
YES, I am going to talk about the blackout yesterday, which affected all the states in the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia - KL, Selangor, N. Sembilan, Melaka & Johor.
Naturally, being the hardworking employee that I am (*gag with finger in throat!*), I was in the office when it happened.
No clue to what the hell was going on, coupled with the total lack of instructions from the management, it was natural that some of us (me + colleagues) started to panic.
"Hey, what should we do???"
"What's going on???"
"What....?"
"Where......?"
"How..........????"
"MOMMIEEE......!!!!!"
What, you think we're wimpy? YOU try being stuck in a black out, several hundred feet above the ground (I was on floor 60-ish). See if you like it. Hey, at that kind of height, you will easily panic woo....! What if the lift cannot jalan? What if we get stuck?? Why my phone got no signal??? How to go back home since LRT cannot move one???!!
So me and my colleagues calculated our odds, and decided to leave quickly. The elevators were damn packed!! Managed to squeeze my big butt through. Reached the lobby. No more than a minute or two after that, we heard the announcement - the lift can't be used no more. Lucky us. Those who were still up there - poor guys.... mu sumo guno-lah tanggo....
And Thank God I'm not stuck in the elevator with a bunch of sweaty and smelly people... *crinkles nose*
Anyway, what I really wanted to tell you guys was this - I WAS ON TV!!! Hahaha.. no kidding.
Was busy watching a group of mak Datins waiting for their smooth rides, when suddenly this reporter appeared right in front of my face.
"Cik... boleh minta pendapat pasal black-out nih? (Can I get your opinion on this black-out?)" he asked.
"No want-lah.." I said. Shy-lor.
"Boleh lah.. sekejapppp je.. (Can lah.. just a short one)" he asked some more.
"Boleh... boleh... dia ni boleh... (Sure.. sure.. she can do it)" my colleagues added HELPFULLY.
"Fine. I'll do it. Just out of courtesy" I thought.
And it was done.
So, if you managed to watch TV3's Buletin Utama or Nightline, and saw that high-pitched, overtly excited, oily-faced, one-eye-sepeted chubby girl in red, talking super fast while hands gesturing madly, and complaining about the lack of announcements...
....then you've seen me.
It's my 10 seconds of fame, and I'm telling it. *big grin*
p/s: to my colleagues, THANKS-A-BUNCH.

DORK ALERT! DORK ALERT!
Suddenly, I find myself wandering back to the time when I was an innocent, teenage girl.
Truth be told, I'm more of a dork really. When my friends were busy idolizing moviestars and artists and doing all the cool stuff teens were supposed to do, I was busy with other 'uncool' things - band comps, drama clubs, chess tournaments, SCIENCE quizzes....!!
Haha.. DORK!! Would you believe it if I say that my favourite pastime back then was studying ADD MATH??? OooOhhHh.. and Japanese. Well, I guess Japanese was kinda a cool subject, but math??? Puh-leeezzz!!
In those days, I used to carry along that red Pelangi Add Math book (not sure if kids still use those today) with me everywhere - breakfast, lunch, dinner, after class, during prep hours, after prep hours, weekends......... you name it.
For those who went to boarding schools, I'm sure you know how chronic my situation was. I mean, weekends were pretty much the only times when we got to fool around, to catch up on watching TV, to talk to our bfs over the public phones (and annoy those little juniors who were trying to call home to mom & dad)... But not me. I would either be practising my piano or trombone, finish up homework, or of course, do MORE ADD MATH!
*rolls eyes* (completely hopeless...).
But I guess I turned out all right. I'm still not the coolest person around (far from it!!), but at least I know that SMV is a movie channel, not a different version of the SUV, and I know that Evanescence is a band, and NOT a brand of Vitamin C.
That's gotta count for something (I think).
And most importantly, I've discovered blogging.
*Err.. blogs ARE cool, right? RIGHT???*
Gee.. I'm still such a big dork. I just now remembered one of the other school's motto which sounded like this, "Once a SDxx-ian, always a SDxx-ian".
If I could rewrite this for myself, it would definitely sound like this: "Once a dork, always a dork!!"
I guess I don't mind, because I'm a happy dork.
And another happy dork loves me..... *big smile*

Take a minute to smile.....
The recent events (re: the Dec 26th Tsunami) have truly been devastating for all of us.. Hopefully, amidst the feelings of sadness and hopelessness, we can still look towards the positive things in life and look to the comfort of those nearest and dearest to us.
Well, something to cheer up your week, I hope :)

Who's the Scaredy Cat?
Got to office super duper early today. 6:40 am - no kidding!
Woodstock had to be somewhere in Perak by 8 am, so he had to send me extra early la. So I thought, fine.. what's the big deal right? I've never been to office this early before, hmm, maybe I can go to one of those cafes and bring my novel with me. That's cool. But I needed to leave my stuff at my desk first.
But when I reached the office, I knew I was WAY too early. The lights are mostly still off, save a few near the elevators. It was very, very creepy. Walking down the hallway gave me a feeling of being in one of those haunted/thriller movies, where the lady finishes work late.. and is walking to the door and about to leave... and suddenly SWOOSHHH!! Something swoops down on her and grabbed her throat... and dragged her someplace..............
"Bismillah..... Allaahulaa ilaa ha illaa huwal haiyyul qayyuum....." I was panicking. Left my stuff at the desk, grabbed my purse & book, and hurried down to the lobby. That cafe is surely looking better and better now.
Went there, and... WHAT'S THIS??! Nothing's open yet! No cafes, no coffee, no place to hang out.
Too chicken to go back up to the dark office yet. Looked at watch - still had a good 10 mins before somebody usually arrives.
Solution? Sat down at the steps outside the lobby, right in front of the pak guards and read my book. Hey, why you stare-stare aahh?? Like my heart lah!!!
Woodstock... you had me awake by 5:45 this morning, and you put me through this. I hope you know how much I love you *wink*.

BRATZZ!!!!
Can't stand them brats.
Felt like smacking them so, so very much.
.. Honestly, I just can't stand spoilt brats. I tell you, some parents just buat donno je (turn one cheek) when their kids go haywire.. at OTHER PEOPLE's HOUSE!!
Went back to my parents today. My two youngest sisters just had their b'days earlier this week, so we thought of having a small birthday party for them la. I baked my chicken mushroom pies, my mama made some mean briyani.. and we invited the neighbours. Being new to the area, we thought this was a great way for us to get to know the people in the neighbourhood. And they turned out to be very, very nice people.
But this one family aa.. haiyo.. their children were bloody torture! I tell you ah, if those were MY kids.. I'd smack them. Or at least, lock them up in the reban ayam or something la. I wouldn't have subjected my hosts with their smudgy, dirty little fingers and obnoxiousness.
You think I'm mean?? Huh. Wait till you hear what happened.
So there we were.. singing the birthday song to the girls... "....Happy Birthday to A & A... Happy Birthday to YOUUUUU.....".. and suddenly, NGAP!! The younger brat (there were 2 of them, both siblings) had just picked up the SINGLE shiny red cherry off the cake and popped it into her mouth!! My poor sisters just looked in horror. They were just planning to fight for it between themselves. Ok fine. Not like they liked the cherry anyways. It's always the fight for it that counts. *wink*
So I started to cut the cake, and was about to hand in the first piece to my sister,... and in swooped the girl's hand again! She wanted to pick off the huge chocolate piece in the center, but this time I was quick enough. Managed to get it for my sister, who has explicitly asked for it earlier. But later the brat got some also lah, but of course the smaller piece la kan.
Now we were all sitting in front of the TV, happily eating the cake, when she sat down beside us with a plate full of fruits. Where did she get those? I know we didn't serve those fruits. I checked the cake, and sure enough, she picked them OFF THE EDGES OF THE CAKE.. ALL OF THEM!!!! There was not one left. Everyone else after that had to do with slices of cake with holes in them.
I haven't even mentioned the mess left behind.
Where were the parents??
Happily chatting with friends, and not checking in once on their precious ones.
I could spend all night talking 'bout them, but it gets very tiring. A friend told me that I'm too uptight sometimes. Yeah, I think so too. I really need to relax a bit. *Hnssshhh... Fuuuhhh... Breathe in.... Breathe out....... Serenity....... Peace.......................*
Ok , I feel better. Man, this blogging really helps.
Ha, I haven't even started talking about the brother brat.
Anyway, Happy Birthdays sistas. I know you don't read this (not planning to let you). But it's the thought that counts.
And I'm sure glad you guys are not monkeys. *grin*

TA-DAA!!!
Finally, I've done it!!!
...BLOGging, that is.. been toying with the idea for a while now, so I thought, what the heck?! With the new year, it's perhaps the perfect time to start :) Here we go again... new year resolutions..blah blah blah....well, maybe next time, folks.. but not this time *wink*...
If you asked me a month ago, I would've had no idea what 'blog' means.. I knew it has something to do with the internet, but that's about it. But when I can't ignore not finding out about this 'blog thing-y' anymore, my friend Shiro introduced it to me.. Before I knew it, I was reading blog after blog after blog after blog......!!! Man.. now I'm hooked!
Can't promise i'll be a good blogger though.... by history, I've proven to be really bad at keeping routines... but, I guess we'll see, huh? I'll make it my personal challenge to keep this thing up and running though.. hehe... *fingers crossed*
Oh, and I'm not promising to be witty or funny either....
In short, WELCOME to my blog, feel free to comment or disagree or hantam (bash) me, but do it gently, please?? I'm an easy bleeder.... *sheepish smile*...
And oh yes, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.... May this be a great year for you....
